Orphans and vulnerable children are barely able to maintain a decent standard of living, making them more likely exposed to risks and dangers. Especially in developing countries like Ethiopia where access to safeguarding of orphans is very low. These children face number of challenges ranging from survival risk, poverty, lack of education, child abuse, psychological, emotional and social break downs. Upon losing their parents, orphans also become vulnerable to losing shelter, protection, guardians and even spaces to stay at which are direct risk to their survival. Orphanages serve as safe homes where these children are nurtured and brought up as dignified and successful individuals.

Backa Community Development Association's orphanage project is designed to create a warm space for most vulnerable and abandoned children where they could find safe environment to grow at.

Orphans have the right to be in a safe space and to live dignified lives.
