Shortage of school materials, insufficient number of classrooms and schools, gaps on capacity of teachers and school administrators, insufficient engagement of parents, families, and community stakeholders are among the basic challenges students and the education system as a whole in Ethiopia are facing. As a result, the access to quality education is unsatisfactory. And children who didn't get access to quality education face huge difficulties to lead dignified and quality lives as adults.
Accordingly, to support children grow up to being successful individuals, Backa Community Development Association strives to provide access to quality and sustainable lifetime education opportunities. Through its "Education for all" programs, BCDA aims to bring about decreased dropouts and performance disparities of target students due to lack of school supplies and to raise awareness and performances of students, teachers, school administrators, parents, and respective stakeholders and to improve their overall capacity.
In the past 10 years, BCDA has supported 7 schools and reached over 10,000 students in Ethiopia.
