"More than 3.6 million Ethiopians are currently displace and more than half million by drought"

As OCHA (United Nations Office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) situation report, 2022, "The overall humanitarian situation in Ethiopia continues to be dire. More than 20 million people affected by violence as well as by climatic shocks such as prolonged drought and seasonal floods require humanitarian assistance and protection services until the end of 2022. This include internally displaced people (IDPs), vulnerable non-displaced people and return immigrants. The overall food insecurity has deteriorated across the country looking at nutrition data as an indicator for example the demand for services for severe acute malnutrition (SAM) cases have increased nation wide by 5.8% in June. However 87.3% of children with SAM that were treated nation wide were cured, which means that most of those who access treatment recover. This calls for the urgent scale-up of nutrition response to ensure that all malnourished children have access to treatment.

Backa Community Development Association aims to save lives through its wide range of emergency interventions, humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation services. BCDA's emergency response wing "Backa Aid" is always on stand-by to give swift responses for natural and man-made disasters ie. Drought, flood, conflicts, wars etc.
