Water is the driving force for sustainable development including environmental integrity and sustainability, indispensable for human health and welfare, agricultural production and rural development in order to eradicate poverty and hunger. Fresh water is limited, and for many people, insufficient to meet their daily needs and access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities are growing concerns in most rural parts of Ethiopia.
Backa Community Development Association has designed projects to provide potable water supply integrated with sanitation facilities in order to enhance pollution of water and soil resources from human and animal excreta, creating conducive environment for the promotion of appropriate sanitation facilities, improving drainage condition in rural dwellings to combat malaria and other related diseases.
