"There are at least 4.5 million orphans in Ethiopia"

Orphans and abandoned children are barely able to maintain a decent standard of living, making them more likely exposed to number of risks and challenges. Especially, in developing countries like Ethiopia where access to safeguarding of orphans is very low, these children face lots of challenges ranging from survival poverty, lack of education, child abuse and psychological, emotional and social breakdowns.

Backa Community Development Association's orphan sponsorship program is designed to help tackle issues Ethiopian orphans and vulnerable children are facing using tailored techniques. The program will secure basic needs of sponsored children including shelters, food, education fees and clothing. It will also provide psychological and social support to ensure a decent and safe life for the children.

Over the last 10 years more than 1,500 children have benefited from BCDA's orphan sponsorship.
